Tbh Ari won this one. Mariah was doing good up to C#5 but then Ari well preserved mix took over. Those D5’s 2:21 and E5’s 3:49 are legendary. Mariah was unfortunately struggling with her mix during this time. A very chest dominant mix and nodules had began to take their toll.

I heard the songs on the radio back in the day, but I never really paid much attention to them. I was more into rock. I came across this video through the rabbit hole somehow, watched it and was amazed at how good she was. She definitely wasn't the product of studio magic. This sounds better that studio version from what I remember. Dare I say her voice is much better than Whitney Huston's....I think it is. I do think she should have left her face alone though. She was cute when she was young. With that long wild curly hair. She didn't need all that plastic surgery. Maybe just a subtle touch up to her nose, but that's all. She didn't really even need that. She would have looked better today if she just aged naturally.
